THANK YOU!
It’s been a most incredible weekend! 2,100 of us “jammed into the NAC” on Saturday night to enjoy a wonderful night of hilarity.
Our most heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who has made this event a success. Our volunteers worked tirelessly for months to put together the show you saw on Saturday night. Our incredible line up of comics – Joey Elias, Trent McClellan,Debra DiGiovanni, and Derek Edwards – kept us in stitches and made the show an amazing success. Our emcee Patrick McKenna was generous and hilarious from beginning to end. Our host Lucy van Oldenbarneveld was charming and funny – even though we didn’t let her do her 40 minute comedy routine. Rick Mercer showed his support from afar and for that we are so grateful. And of course, our generous sponsors without whom this event would not have been possible.
But mostly, thanks to all of you who came out to the show to support The Royal. We are still crunching the final numbers but we know that this event has been an amazing success thanks to you!
See you next year!

The Funny Bits from the Funny Bits
Back in December, Cracking-Up the Capital host Patrick McKenna flew into town and spent a rainy day with us at The Royal, taping a hilarious promo for the show.
In the spirit of all that’s good and funny, we put together an outtakes reel. Now, you should know, that Patrick really is a one-take wonder. The thing is, all of his one-takes are hilarious! They were too funny NOT to show you.
Enjoy – and look for the promo to start airing on CBC Ottawa January 30th!
Oh, and by the way – there are still tickets available for the show, and if you’re planning to attend Winterlude this year (we are an official event, dontcha know), then you can get your tickets in the Winterlude Zone (the Amphitheatre of the NAC), today and get 33% off!!! Hurry!
Mucho thanks to our production crew for their help in putting this promo together – Jason Leroux for his mad videography skillz, Tom Leroux for his on location assistance and whiz bang editing prowess, Susan Murphy for her uncanny ability to make lots of phone calls and get people to do stuff, Kevin Crawley for magnificently de-shinifying our talent, and Rick Currie for writing real good.
Holy BeaverTails, it’s Joey Elias!
I don’t think there’s anyone more excited about Cracking-Up The Capital than Joey Elias. It’s an official Winterlude event, dontcha know! Have a listen to this special message from Joey. Who wants a BeaverTail?
